Skills Evaluation Test

To certify skills of experienced workers, ITE Education Services Pte Ltd conducts Skills Evaluation Test. ITE Skills Evaluation Test (SET) Certificate system was introduced in year 2003 to replace the former Public Trade Test (PTT) system.

SET Certificate Level One certifies the attainment at basic skill level of a worker for the occupational field specified.

SET Certificate Level Two certifies the attainment at skilled level of a worker for the occupational field specified.

Note:

1) On-going PR and International Students admitted prior to AY2013 will also pay new fees but based on existing fee differentiation framework. They would be advised separately by their ITE Colleges.
2) One term is 6 months.
3) Registration Fee is a one-time payment.
4) Fees are subject to revision.
5) The fee rates are inclusive of GST or after GST subsidy.
6) Students are required to pay their term fees for all terms by the stipulated dates in order to remain in their course of study. For subsequent terms, students are required to pay their fees through PSEA/GIRO. It is compulsory for International Students to pay their subsequent term fees through GIRO.
7) Full-time International Students studying in ITE are required to purchase a Group Hospitalisation and Surgical Insurance (GHSI). The purpose of the GHSI is to help defray the hospitalisation expenses for International Students in the event that they are hospitalised.
8) Fees is charged based on Citizenship at the point of term commencement. Students who have officially informed ITE of their Citizenship change to Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident before the term commencement will have their fees adjusted to the Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident rate for that term. However, for students who inform ITE officially of their Citizenship change to Singapore Citizen or Permanent Resident after the term commencement, their fees will be adjusted to the Singapore Citizen / Permanent Resident rate only with effect from the next term.

Refund of Fees
The total fees paid may be refundable as follows:

Fees

Students are required to pay the school fees before the new school term starts.
All Singaporeans are required to submit the MOE Post-Secondary Education Account (PSEA) Standing Order (SO) form for payment of school fees. The form must be signed by the Student or the Parent/Legal Guardian if the student is below 21 years of age.
All Permanent Residents have to make payment of first term fees via Self-Automated Machine (SAM) / cash payment at Singapore Post Office / NETS or cash payment at the campus, and submit InterBank GIRO (for payment of subsequent fees) at the posted campus.

Submission of Admission-Related Forms

Students who have accepted the offer of admission to ITE College Central must complete the following forms online via the iStudent portal:

Students also have to complete and submit the following hardcopy forms on the scheduled campus registration day as stated in the posting letter.

National Service (NS) Deferment

Male applicants who wish to pursue full-time ITE courses in 2013 need to check their eligibility for NS Deferment with the Central Manpower Base (CMPB) if you are born in the following years:

• Year 1993 or earlier (for Secondary 4 Express and Secondary 4 Normal Stream students); or

• Year 1992 or earlier (for Secondary 5 Normal Stream students and ITE Graduates seeking progression to Higher Nitec / Nitec courses)

To apply for NS deferment, male applicants must collect the Eligibility for National Service Deferment Forms from the ITE Customer & Visitor Centre @ Ang Mo Kio. These forms must be completed by applicants and endorsed by an ITE staff before submission to CMPB for processing.

Only applicants who (i) have obtained the NS deferment or (ii) have completed their NS will be allowed to enrol in the course. Please bring along the necessary documentary proof for verification during campus registration.

Appeal for Admission

Applicants who did not accept their posted course / rejected their posted course / failed interview / did not respond to interview invitation may appeal for admission for 10 choices of ITE courses, at the campus offering the course of your first choice or through the ITE website.

Appeal for Transfer

Applicants who wish to transfer to another course/campus will have to accept the original course and register at the campus stated in the posting letter first before submitting an appeal. All appeals for transfer must be submitted at the campus indicated in the original posting letter or through the ITE website.

EZ-Link Card and Uniforms

Photo-taking for EZ-Link Cards

Students are required to report at the campus stated in the posting letter in proper attire with a neat haircut to take photo for making of the student EZ-Link card.
Current Nitec students progressing to Higher Nitec are required to register for the extension of your existing EZ-Link card.

Uniform

All full-time students are required to put on the approved uniforms during lessons. Uniforms are available for sale during the campus registration period and after the commencement of new term. In total, there are three different designs (up to two different colours) for students to choose from. The PE attire is of a common design with school-specific coloured stripes. ITE conducts full-time courses which lead to certification at the Nitec and Higher Nitec levels. The number of courses offered under each level of certification together with the general entry requirements are listed below:

HOW TO APPLY:If you are a school candidate who had sat for the 2012 Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examinations or a Singaporean/Singapore Permanent Resident with valid Singapore-Cambridge GCE ‘O’ Level Examination results, please submit your application via Internet at www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/jae. You can log in to apply for courses using your JAE PIN (Form A holders only)/SingPass. If you are a Singaporean/Singapore Permanent Resident with valid Singapore-Cambridge GCE 'O' Level Examination results who wish to participate in JAE but do not have a JAE PIN/SingPass, you could submit your application at the MOE Customer Service Centre at 1 North Buona Vista Drive. You have to bring with you your Identity Card, original GCE ‘O’ Level Certificate(s)/Result Slip(s) and Secondary School Report Book/CCA Certificate(s). Dual Certification Course for Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care and Nitec in Nursing

Application for admission to the 3-year and 3-month dual certificate course for Higher Nitec in Paramedic & Emergency Care and Nitec in Nursing is ONLY conducted through the Special Admissions Exercise (SAE) administered by ITE College East for those who possess a passion for wanting to save lives and strong interpersonal, critical thinking and decision making skills. Applicants who are interested to apply for the course must ensure that they are free from colour appreciation deficiency and may check directly with ITE College East for more information. Shortlisted candidates have to attend and pass an interview. Due to the special requirements of the healthcare profession and in the delivery of direct patient care, all applicants have to pass a pre-admission medical examination and be free from physical and mental handicap to ensure suitability. Application for admission to the Higher Nitec in Filmmaking (Cinematography) course is ONLY conducted through the Special Admissions Exercise (SAE) administered by ITE College Central for those who possess a passion for and strong interest in behind-the-scene Filmmaking (Cinematography) works. Applicants who are interested to apply for the course must ensure that they are free from colour appreciation deficiency and may check directly with ITE College Central for more information. As lifting of heavy equipment is an essential and integral part of the training and assessment requirements, applicants are advised that they should be physically fit to undergo the rigors of the training. Shortlisted candidates are required to attend an interview.

Higher Nitec in Performance Production

Application for admission to the Higher Nitec in Performance Production course is ONLY conducted through the Special Admissions Exercise (SAE) administered by ITE College Central for those who possess a passion for and strong interest in stage management and technical theatre. Applicants who are interested to apply for the course must ensure that they are free from colour appreciation deficiency, hearing deficiency and acrophobia (fear of height) and may check directly with ITE College Central for more information. Shortlisted applicants have to attend and pass an interview.

Higher Nitec in Beauty & Spa Management

Besides the JAE, ITE College East also conducts a Special Admissions Exercise (SAE) for those who possess a good service mindset, pleasant disposition and good skin complexion and enjoy working in the beauty and spa industry to apply for Higher Nitec in Beauty & Spa Management. Applicants who are interested to apply for the course may check directly with ITE College East for more information. Shortlisted candidates under SAE are required to attend an interview before the final selection. All applicants also have to pass a pre-admission medical examination.

Higher Nitec in Business Studies (Sport Management)

Besides the JAE, ITE College East and ITE College West also conducts a Special Admissions Exercise (SAE) for those who possess a strong sports background and healthy lifestyle mindset to apply for Higher Nitec in Business Studies (Sport Management). Applicants who are interested to apply may check directly with ITE College East and ITE College West for more information. Shortlisted candidates under SAE are required to attend an interview before the final selection.

Higher Nitec in Hospitality Operations

Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising

Besides the JAE, ITE College Central also conducts a Special Admissions Exercise (SAE) for those who possess a passion for designing window and in-store displays to apply for Higher Nitec in Visual Merchandising. Applicants who are interested to apply for the course may check directly with ITE College Central for more information. Shortlisted candidates under SAE are required to attend an aptitude test and interview before the final selection.

ITE SPECIAL COLLEGE ADMISSIONS SCHEME

The ITE Special College Admissions Scheme (SCAS) provides flexibility for ITE Colleges (ITE College Central, ITE College East and ITE College West) to consider students with special talents and achievements, for direct admission into ITE full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec courses. This will provide applicants under SCAS, the advantage of admission into an ITE College and course of their choice. The scheme will be open for application for admission to courses for year 2014 intakes.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Students with special talents and achievements in the following areas may apply for admission into ITE full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec courses under SCAS:

To ensure that students admitted through SCAS will be able to cope with the ITE courses, they are expected to meet the minimum entry requirements (where applicable) of their respective Higher Nitec and Nitec courses based on their GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ level results. Successful applicants are also expected to pass the colour vision test and/or medical check for admission into selected courses.

For students who are offered a place via their non-academic achievement in the areas of Sports, Performing & Visual Arts and Leadership, Entrepreneurship & Innovation, they will be required to contribute in the same CCA or similar CCA offered at their ITE College of study during their 2 years ITE Course.

APPLICATION

Application is open to final-year secondary school students from the Normal (Technical), Normal (Academic) and ‘O’ level streams, as well as past-year secondary school leavers. Applicants are advised to submit their online application by 26 July 2013, to be considered for admission into the following year's intakes.

Current ITE students are not eligible for this scheme. Students can apply up to a maximum of 3 choices of courses online. Each ITE College will notify short-listed applicants on the interview dates.

SELECTION AND OFFER

In selecting the students, ITE Colleges will take into account, their suitability and motivation for admission to the course applied for, based on their CCA records, personal portfolio of achievements and performance at interview.

Final-year secondary school students without their GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ level examination results, and who are selected, will be given a conditional offer of a place in ITE. Confirmation of admission will be based on students meeting the minimum entry requirements (where applicable) for the selected courses, when the final GCE ‘N’ or ‘O’ level examination results are released. Students, who have applied to more than one ITE College, may receive only 1 offer based on the order of choice.

ON-GOING ITE STUDENTS

On-going ITE students who wish to seek course transfer to another ITE course are to approach their Class Advisor or Section Head to apply for the transfer and not to submit their application in the intake exercise.

ITE GRADUATES

If you have graduated from a full-time Higher Nitec course at ITE and wish to return to do a second full-time Higher Nitec course, you may apply for admission one year after graduation. For April 2013 intake, you may submit your admission application if you have graduated before 1 May 2012.

If you have graduated from a full-time Nitec course at ITE and wish to return to do a second full-time Nitec course, you may apply for admission one year after graduation. For January 2013 intake, you may submit your admission application if you have graduated before 1 February 2012. For April 2013 intake, you may submit your admission application if you have graduated before 1 May 2012.

NS DEFERMENT

National Service (NS) liable males who wish to pursue full-time ITE courses in 2013 and were born in the year 1993 or earlier (for Secondary 4 Express and Sec 4 Normal Stream students) or born in the year 1992 or earlier (for Secondary 5 Normal Stream students and ITE Graduates seeking progression to Higher Nitec courses) will have to check their eligibility for NS Deferment at the Central Manpower Base (CMPB). Only those who are eligible for NS deferment will be allowed to enroll in the course.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

ITE will not be admitting International Students with foreign qualifications or private qualifications to its full-time courses.

Scholarships, Awards & Bursaries

AWARDS

Community Development Council & Citizen's Consultative Committee-Institute of Technical Education (CDC & CCC-ITE) ScholarshipThe CDC & CCC-ITE Scholarship is open to Singaporean school leavers who have been selected for full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec courses and are in the top 10 per cent of the GCE ‘N’/GCE ‘O’ level entrants at each intake exercise. Company-sponsored students admitted to full-time courses at ITE are also eligible for the scholarship.

Recipients will be informed by ITE. No application is required.

The scholarship will be given for the duration of the course. For recipients in a 2-year course, renewal in the second year of study is subject to their performance and conduct during the first year of study.

The value of the award is $1,200 per year.

Recipients of the CDC & CCC-ITE Scholarship will not be eligible for any other scholarship/bursary award.

Community Development Council & Citizen's Consultative Committee-Institute of Technical Education (CDC & CCC-ITE) BursaryThe CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary is open to Singaporean applicants seeking admission to ITE full-time courses.

The bursary quantum will depend on the gross monthly household per capita income of applicants. Details are given in the table below:

Each award is for one year. A full-time student in a 2-year course will have to reapply for the award at the beginning of the second year of study. Applicants for the bursary must not be in receipt of the CDC & CCC-ITE Scholarship or any other scholarship/bursary award (excluding Edusave Merit Bursary). Company-sponsored students and trainees are not eligible for the CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary.

Applicants are required to submit a Family Income Declaration through ITE’s iStudent System and submit the supporting income documents (eg latest payslips, letters from employers) to their respective Campus Administration Office for verification. Applicants can follow the steps below to submit their Family Income Declaration through the web:

Successful applicants will be informed by their respective CCCs. The CCs will notify the applicants when to collect their bursary cheques.

Howe Yoon Chong-PSA ScholarshipThe Howe Yoon Chong-PSA Scholarship provides financial assistance to Singaporeans from lower income families to upgrade themselves through attaining formal qualifications and/or technical skills.

The scholarship is open to Singapore citizens aged 25 years and below who are admitted to a full-time Higher Nitec or Nitec course and whose Gross Monthly Household Per Capita Income is $750 and below. For applicants with GCE ‘O’ qualification, the aggregate score for English Language, Mathematics and best 3 subjects must not exceed 26 points. For applicants with GCE ‘N’ qualification, the aggregate score for Mathematics and best 3 subjects must not exceed 9 points.

The scholarship will pay for the tuition and other compulsory fees, a monthly living allowance of $300, and an annual book allowance of $200.

Edusave Awards for Achievement, Good Leadership and Service (EAGLES)
The EAGLES is given to recognise students for their leadership qualities, service to community and excellence in the non-academic areas, i.e. Sports & Games, Arts and Cultural Activities, Clubs and Societies, and Community Involvement Programme (CIP). Up to 10% of ITE full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec Singaporean students will be selected for the award yearly. No application for the award is required. Students will be selected based on their CCA and CIP participation. The cash quantum of each award is $500.

The Edusave Character Award (ECHA)
The Edusave Character Award (ECHA) is given to students who demonstrate exemplary character and outstanding personal qualities through their behaviour and actions. Up to 2% of ITE full-time Nitec and Higher Nitec Singaporean students will be selected for the award yearly. Each award is valued at $500.

Edusave Merit Bursary
The Edusave Merit Bursary is awarded to ITE full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students in recognition of their academic performance. Singapore Citizens who are ranked within the top 25 per cent of their course based on their examination results for the training year and have a Gross Monthly Household Income of less than $4,000 will qualify for this award. Each award is valued at $500. All eligible students will be informed by their respective CCCs on the application procedure.

Good Progress Award
The Good Progress Award is aimed at rewarding the top 10% of full-time Singaporean students who show commendable improvements in their Higher Nitec and Nitec courses. They must have passed all the accountable modules in the examinations and must not be in receipt of the Edusave Merit Bursary or CDC & CCC-ITE Scholarship. Each award is valued at $400. No application for the award is required as the students who have shown progress in their studies will be identified by ITE.

ITE Arts Excellence AwardThe objective of the ITE Arts Excellence Award is to attract school leavers with outstanding performance track record in music and the arts to pursue technical training in ITE. The award is also given to encourage and motivate on-going students to excel in music and the arts.

Full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have a good record of CCA, conduct and performance in school or ITE College can apply for the award. The value of the award is $800 for one academic year only. A full-time student in a 2-year course will have to re-apply for the award at the beginning of the second year of study.

ITE Awards For Good Leadership & Services (Non-Citizen)This award is available to non-Singaporean students to recognise their leadership qualities, service to community and excellence in the non-academic areas. Up to 5% of full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec non-Singaporean students will be selected for the award yearly. Each award is valued at $200.

ITE CCA Medal The ITE CCA Medal is awarded to ITE full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have brought honours to ITE through their achievements in sports and games or have contributed significantly to the enhancement of campus life and demonstrated outstanding leadership in their chosen CCA. The awardees will be selected from among the recipients of EAGLES. Each awardee will receive a Certificate and a Medal.

ITE Sports Excellence AwardThe objective of the ITE Sports Excellence Award is to attract school leavers with a track record outstanding performance in sports and games to pursue technical training in ITE. The award is also given to encourage and motivate on-going students to excel in sports and games.

Full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have represented Singapore or Singapore schools in sports and games can apply for the award. The value of the award is $800 for one academic year only. A full-time student in a 2-year course will have to re-apply for the award at the beginning of the second year of study.

Lee Kuan Yew CCA AwardThe Lee Kuan Yew CCA Award is a recognition of excellence in CCA accorded to the most deserving Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have distinguished themselves among the ITE CCA Medallists. A maximum of 3 awards will be presented each year. The Award comprises a cash quantum of $400, a trophy and a certificate.

Lee Kuan Yew Model Student/Trainee Award The Lee Kuan Yew Model Student/Trainee Award is presented to full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec students and trainees who have performed consistently well in their course and have displayed outstanding conduct and attitude worthy of emulation by their peers. The Award serves to inspire students and trainees to display exemplary behaviour in training and develop high moral values as well as show care and concern for others. A maximum of 10 awards will be presented each year. The Award comprises a cash quantum of $400, a trophy and a certificate.

Lee Kuan Yew Technology Award
The Lee Kuan Yew Technology Award is presented to Higher Nitec and Nitec students who have developed excellent projects that embody quality, technical innovation and creativity. The Award serves to inspire students to develop a zeal for challenges, creativity and competition. A maximum of 10 awards will be presented each year. The Award comprises a cash quantum of $400 and a trophy. Each member of the project team also receives a certificate.

Singapore Armed Forces-ITE Sponsorship Scheme (SISS) and Military Domain Experts Scheme Study Award (MSA) (Higher Nitec/Nitec)
Students seeking admission into ITE full-time Higher Nitec and Nitec courses may apply for sponsorship under SISS or MSA (Higher Nitec/Nitec). Under these schemes, the SAF will provide ITE students with sponsorship of their studies, which covers tuition fees and other compulsory fees. In addition, they will receive a monthly allowance ranging between $550 to $750, depending on course and the type of vocation applied for.

Sponsored students are required to serve a bond upon completion of their ITE courses. They may choose to join the Army, Navy or Air Force.

ITE Special Student Assistance Scheme (SASS)This scheme is aimed at providing financial assistance to full-time students who require financial support after the application period for the CDC & CCC-ITE Bursary. In a way, the ITE SSAS is an exigency scheme to provide support to needy students so that they can continue with their study. To apply for the financial assistance, an applicant will be required to submit an on-line application form, followed by submitting the supporting income documents to the College where he/she is studying.

MOE BursaryThe MOE Bursary is introduced for ITE students whose gross monthly household per capita income must not exceed $1,700. Students may apply for the bursary at any time during an academic year. The bursary quantum is given in the table below:

Applicant must be a subsidized Singapore citizen student pursuing a full-time Nitec, Higher Nitec or Diploma course and must not concurrently hold other bursaries or scholarships.
To apply for the bursary, an applicant will be required to submit an on-line application form, follow by submitting the supporting income documents to the College where he/she is studying.

Sponsorship for Nitec in Nursing Course
Sponsorship awards are offered to selected students who have successfully enrolled in the Nitec in Nursing course. Upon successful completion of training, recipients will join the sponsoring hospital where they will perform direct nursing care and activities to patients. More information on this sponsorship award will be available after students commence the course.

Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Sports ScholarshipThe Singapore Olympic Foundation-Peter Lim Sports Scholarship is offered to ITE students pursuing full-time courses. Special consideration will be given to athletes who are in financial needs. More information on this scholarship can be obtained at the respective ITE Colleges.

ITE has a wide-range of scholarships and sponsorship awards offered by external organisations and companies. Scholarships are generally awarded to deserving students based on academic merit, a good track record in co-curricular activities, leadership qualities and special talents. From time to time, other external organisations and companies may offer scholarship or awards to ITE full-time students in specific courses. There are also other awards available to students who may be in need of financial assistance. These are offered by ITE and the respective College Advisory Committees. Progression Opportunities For ITE Graduates
ITE training has become a very practical and viable alternative route to tertiary education. At every course level, ITE has created opportunities for graduates to progress to higher level training both internally and externally.

Students from the National ITE Certificate (Nitec) courses can progress to higher level full-time courses in ITE. Nitec Business & Services graduates with GPA of at least 2.8 may apply for progression to the first year of a Higher Nitec Business & Services course. Nitec (in technical areas) graduates with a GPA of at least 2.3 may apply for progression to a Higher Nitec Engineering/ICT course. Nitec in Aerospace Avionics and Aerospace Technology graduates with a GPA of at least 3.0 may apply for progression to the Higher Nitec in Aerospace Engineering course. Those with GPA of at least 3.5 may be shortlisted for direct admission to the second year of a related Higher Nitec Engineering/ICT course. Alternatively, Nitec Technical/NTC-2 graduates can take up a related Master National ITE Certificate (Master Nitec) course after working for three years in a relevant trade.

Nitec (in technical areas) graduates with GPA of at least 3.5 may apply for admission to a related Diploma course at ITE and the polytechnics.

Higher Nitec graduates with good results may apply for admission to the first year of a related Diploma course at ITE and the polytechnics. Those with GPA of 3.5 and above, may apply for direct admission to the 2nd year of a relevant Diploma in Engineering/IT course.

How To Apply For Progression To A Higher Nitec Course
Nitec graduates or full-time Nitec students graduating in Mar 2013 can apply for progression to Higher Nitec courses in January 2013. The exact application dates will be published in The Straits Times and The New Paper and ITE website following the release of 2012 GCE 'O' Level Examination results.

Revised Full-Time National Service (NS) Deferment And Disruption Policies For NS-Liable Nitec / Higher Nitec ITE Graduates

To facilitate ITE graduates to pursue qualifications up to Polytechnic diploma or equivalent (ie.1^st education bar), MINDEF has reviewed the full-time NS deferment and disruption policies. Deferment refers to the postponement of full-time NS duties, prior to enlistment. Disruption refers to the interruption of full-time NS duties, after enlistment.

(A) Nitec / Higher Nitec ITEGraduates Who Wish To Pursue Full-Time Diploma Studies At ITE, Polytechnics, Nanyang Academy Of Fine Arts, LaSalle College Of The Arts

Deferment
NS-liable ITE graduates who wish to pursue full-time diploma studies at the above institutions may be granted deferment from full-time NS if they are below 21 years old as at 1^st Jan of the course commencement year. Deferment for those graduating from ITE from Dec 2012 onwards, and who are above 21 years old as at 1^st Jan of their course commencement year will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Disruption
NS-liable ITE graduates who graduate from Dec 2012 onwards may be granted disruption in their 2^nd year of full-time NS to pursue full-time diploma studies at the above institutions. This provision only applies to those who have applied for one or more courses in these institutions prior to enlistment, and have not been successful in any of their applications. Should they subsequently succeed during full-time NS in obtaining a place at one of these institutions, they may be granted disruption in their 2^nd year of full-time NS to pursue studies at that institution.

(B) Nitec / Higher Nitec ITE Graduates Who Wish To Pursue Full-Time Studies At Private Or Overseas Institutions

Deferment
NS-liable ITE graduates who graduate from Dec 2012 onwards and who wish to pursue full-time studies at private or overseas institutions conferring qualifications up to the 1^st education bar may be granted deferment from full-time NS if they are below 20 years old as at 1st Jan of the course commencement year. This will apply to private or overseas courses commencing from 1 Jan 2013 onwards.

Application Process For Deferment Or Disruption

ITE students who wish to apply for deferment from full-time NS should approach the Central Manpower Base (CMPB) with documentary proof of their admission to the institutions as soon as possible, and before their scheduled date of enlistment.

To apply for disruption during full-time NS, pre-enlistees may approach their respective Unit Manpower Officer after they have been posted to a unit. This should be done at least 3 months before their requested date of disruption and they will be required to provide documentary proof of admission into the institution.
